Lomography, freedom, and other news

Fri Nov 13, 2009, 10:37 PM
I really, really want a Lomo camera. In particular a fish-eye one, however the standard ones look quite nice too. It's funny how "old" technology becomes so appealing, but I have to say the photos they take are so nice. (See some of my latest favourites, or just go here.

Either that or save up for a new lens for my SLR. I'm thinking a wide angle one or maybe a fish eye, depends. I need to get some more research on it- and perhaps advice?
Hmm... seeing as I'm going to be working a lot these holidays and Xmas is around the corner we'll see about what I can afford.

Another thing I'm thinking of doing is buying some film and find my mum's old film SLR somewhere, and maybe practice shots on there to make some prints.

I'm really excited for uni next year because reading the course outline there is an ENTIRE unit on photography. :3
It's exciting because I love having classes on it, it builds my technique and not to mention it gives me inspiration on it.

But my main excitement for uni is of course making films and studying them. I can't wait to actually learn professional stuff about it and actually not feel like an amateur when I'm doing it.

So anyway, I've finished high school (almost) forever now, the only thing I have left is the graduation dinner + ceremony itself which is only in a bit under 3 weeks. I'm so happy because after 12 years of hating it (well, maybe 90% of the time) it's alllll over and I don't have that particular routine anymore of doing stuff I'm not even remotely interested in.

Until then, I'm going to Tasmania for a week (and taking my SLR - BOUND to get some shots there XD the scenery is actually great there) and I'm seeing some friends I haven't seen in about seven years. Crazy ey? I guess that's my idea of leavers/schoolies/whatever you call it.

I've gotta go get ready for work now, ciao guys.
